Dear Parents and Carers
OPEN HOUR
So that Parents and Carers have a chance to be on site and to meet your child’s teacher, we have planned an Open Hour for next week. COVID restrictions will be observed, hence different levels in different buildings will have Open Hour on different days. (Parents and children are most welcome).
For Years 1, 3 & 5,
Open Hour will be on
Wednesday 3 March from 4:00-5:00
For Years F, 2, 4 & 6,
Open Hour will be on
Thursday 4 March from 4:00-5:00
To follow the COVID protocols we ask that:
- People enter via the top gate (near the ramp) only
- And exit via the gate near the admin building only
- Adults sign in via the QR Code
- Adults wear masks while indoors or where social distancing cannot be observed
- Children do not play on the playground
The purpose of the Open Hour is to:
- Have a chance to meet your child’s teacher
- See the school and the Learning Spaces
- Have your child show you his / her work
- See how learning happens at different levels of the school
Devices at School:
A reminder that all devices (phones, smart watches etc) must be given to the teacher at the beginning of the day (where they will be safely stored) and then collected again at home time. Smart watches or other devices that can make and receive phone calls or take photos are not to be warn whilst at school. Many thanks.
St Clare's ROCKS
As part of our Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support, St Clare’s has the universal expectation that each student will follow the behaviours outlined in ROCKS (we are Respectful, Optimistic, Courageous, Kind and Safe).
ROCKS has its very essence in scripture:
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:24-25
Over the next few weeks, we are highlighting the ‘K’ component of ROCKS – Kindness. This links with the scripture we will be using throughout our season of Lent,
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:35-40
A random act of kindness is a simple act which brightens someone’s day. It can be something significant - perhaps donating to a charity or something smaller such as holding a door open for someone. Over the next dew weeks, students will be participating in a variety of activities and events with support from our Student Leaders with the aim being to develop our understanding and practice of kindness.
This week we are also introducing our St Clare’s ROCKS cards. ROCKS cards will be given to students who demonstrate ROCKS - Respect, Optimism, Courage, Kindness and Safety with the focus on Kindness. Staff will be on the lookout for students who are showing the St Clare’s way, exhibiting KINDNESS in word and action. If a student receives a ROCKS card they will bring it home to share with their family. Students will also complete a card to display at school, describing how they showed KINDNESS.
So at home: Let your child see you being kind to someone else. Encourage them to be kind to you, their siblings, and their neighbours. Point out kind acts you see others perform in real life and in books or movies. Help spread kindness this term and every term by discussing our weekly scripture focus and kindness quote. One of the most important abilities we have as human beings is to be able to imagine ourselves in the place of others. We have an expression 'to put ourselves in someone else's shoes'.
Officer District Swimming Carnival
Well done and Congratulations to Nathan, Oliver and Oktih who represented St Clare's at the Officer District Swimming Carnival today
From the Office - 24 February 2021
PAM - Parent Access Module
We are excited to introduce a new Parent information portal called "PAM"
Through this portal parents will be able to submit student absences, access school documents such as the parent handbook, current fee infromation and update student medical information. We will also be using this portal for parents to grant permission for excursions and camps.
School reports will also be accessed via the portal instead of nForma as used in previous years.
All families will receive an email in the coming days with information on how to set up your PAM account.
REPORTING STUDENT ABSENCE
Every day counts at school – so please ensure your child attends each day provided they are well.
In the event of your child being absent, the school MUST be informed by 9:00am. This can be via email absent@stclaresofficer.catholic.edu.au through the Skoolbag app or on the phone 5940 6777. In the case of an unexplained absence, you will be contacted via SMS and then telephone.
Please note that we are required by law to report unexplained or unreasonable absences to the relevant Government Authorities.
SCHOOL FEES - School fee statements have been emailed to families. If you would like to set up a direct debit please contact the office for a form.
If your situation has changed meaning you now have a pension or health care card please let us know at the office or email finance@stclaresofficer.catholic.edu.au This can make a substantial difference to you school fees.
Families who have concerns about their financial situation are asked to contact the school via email finance@stclaresofficer.catholic.edu.au so that we can explore confidential financial support arrangements.
VISITORS TO SCHOOL - For the safety of all, visitors to the school are being kept to a minimum and entrance to the office is only when essential. Please contact the office on 5940 6777 if you have any queries or require assistance.
EARLY PICK FROM SCHOOL - Should you need to collect your child early we ask that parents ring the school once they have arrived at school to collect the child. We will then arrange to bring the child out to you in the "L-Z kiss and drop zone". We remind you that parents are not to leave their car or enter the office area unless absolutely necessary.
