Dear Parents and Guardians
Change in details to Parents and Carers being on Site
As of Monday, 22 March parents who feel that they need to come on site may do so at the morning drop off (but only the morning drop off).
There are several observations that must be made:
- Parents and carers are to enter via the top gate only (the gate nearest A-K Kiss and Drop Zone)
- Parent and carers must exit via the gate between the ELC and the Admin building
- No parent or carer is to enter the buildings
- If any parent or carer needs to be on the school grounds for fifteen minutes or more, they need to sign in via the QR code (details at the gate).
We are not in a position to have parents on site at the end of the day at pick up time. Currently we have more than 150 different combinations of arrangements for children at the end of the school day and for the safety and wellbeing of those in our care, we need to be able to easily account for each child.
Many thanks for your co-operation.
SCHOOL GROUNDS PROJECT
Works are well underway for the landscaping project (including the new playground and oval area). The project will be ready in Term 4 … but the wait will be worth it.
FEELING UNWELL
There are some nasty bugs around at the moment that are causing students to feel unwell and according to the Department of Health, symptoms can take two – three days to develop and usually last one or two days, sometimes longer. Watch for:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Fever
- Abdominal Pain
- Headache
- Muscle aches
The Department of Health advises that children with these symptoms should stay home while sick for 48 hours after their symptoms have stopped. If symptoms persist – visit your GP.

Our weekly kindness quote is:
Our weekly kindness home challenge is:
This week we are also celebrating Harmony week.
Harmony week is celebrated every year (March 15-21 2021). Harmony week celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity it is about including, respecting and appreciating the stories, traditions and cultures of all people who call Australia home.
Celebrating Harmony Week provides the opportunity for our students and families to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the customs and traditions in our diverse communities. During this week we encourage students to learn more about their own cultural background, it is a great chance for students to talk to their relatives and see what they can find out about their culture to share their own family story with their friends and staff. Students may like to complete our weekly home kindness challenge and help prepare a meal from their cultural background. Sharing a meal is a great way to share your culture.

We Celebrate St Patrick, The Patron Saint of Our Pakenham Parish
The feast day of St Patrick is the 17th of March
Amidst the legends of snakes and shamrocks lies the story of a missionary (St Patrick) whose way of living and words touched the souls of the people in Ireland. He spoke simply of God’s beauty and love. He spoke of a God so close to
us that there is a very thin membrane between the divine and the human. The people of Ireland had long known this through their own experience and appreciation of the winds, the trees, the rivers, the glens, the greening earth. Patrick brought a name to their experience – Jesus, the living Word of God made flesh, now risen and whose radiance fills the earth – for those with eyes to see.
As we celebrate and give thanks for the faith of Patrick, can we celebrate and give thanks for the rich heritage of all our ancestors in the faith, the many in our families and schools and parishes who lived and spoke the good news of Jesus. May we continue to be the messengers of this Good News so that we too can be a ‘light for the nations’.
SkoolBag App - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
From the start of Term 2 the Skoolbag App will no longer be in use.
The Parent Access Module (PAM) will be our new portal that will be used to provide information to parents and for parents to submit absences, give permission for excursions and update medical information.
If you are having any trouble accessing PAM please contact the school.
ENROLMENTS 2022
We are beginning to process enrolments for 2022. If you have a child to enrol please collect a enrolment form from the office or it can be accessed on our website.
PAM - Parent Access Module
We are excited to introduce a new Parent information portal called "PAM"
Through this portal parents will be able to submit student absences, access school documents such as the parent handbook, current fee infromation and update student medical information. We will also be using this portal for parents to grant permission for excursions and camps.
School reports will also be accessed via the portal instead of nForma as used in previous years.
All families should have received an email this week with information on how to set up your PAM account.
Families can report students absences through the PAM portal - this will replace the Skoolbag Ap.
REPORTING STUDENT ABSENCE
Every day counts at school – so please ensure your child attends each day provided they are well.
In the event of your child being absent, the school MUST be informed by 9:00am. This can be via email absent@stclaresofficer.catholic.edu.au through the PAM portal or on the phone 5940 6777. In the case of an unexplained absence, you will be contacted via SMS and then telephone.
Please note that we are required by law to report unexplained or unreasonable absences to the relevant Government Authorities.
SCHOOL FEES - School fee statements have been emailed to families. If you would like to set up a direct debit please contact the office for a form.
If your situation has changed meaning you now have a pension or health care card please let us know at the office or email finance@stclaresofficer.catholic.edu.au This can make a substantial difference to you school fees.
Families who have concerns about their financial situation are asked to contact the school via email finance@stclaresofficer.catholic.edu.au so that we can explore confidential financial support arrangements.
VISITORS TO SCHOOL - For the safety of all, visitors to the school are being kept to a minimum and entrance to the office is only when essential. Please contact the office on 5940 6777 if you have any queries or require assistance.
EARLY PICK FROM SCHOOL - Should you need to collect your child early we ask that parents ring the school once they have arrived at school to collect the child. We will then arrange to bring the child out to you in the "L-Z kiss and drop zone". We remind you that parents are not to leave their car or enter the office area unless absolutely necessary.
