Dear Parents
There’s lots to celebrate this week and to look forward to for next week: one hundred days at school for our Foundation Students; a Star Baker whose heart has gone out to sick children; the upcoming Athletics Carnival and our own St Clare’s Feast Day.
100 DAYS AT SCHOOL in FOUNDATION
If you thought that St Clare’s looked a little older last Friday – you will be right. Foundation students celebrated 100 days of school and it’s fair to say that their teachers were looking somewhat older because of it.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL Years 3-6
Assuming the weather is accommodating, we will be having our Years 3-6 Athletics Carnival on Monday 9 August.
The students will be travelling to Toomuc Valley Reserve in smaller groups to maximise our time for the Track ‘n’ Field events.
It’s important to note that we will be running various heats on the day and that progressing to District Level is dependent on times in age groups rather than what year a child is in (eg: Year 6).
Students in Years 3-6 will need to wear their sport uniform on Monday and ensure they have their water bottle, an extra snack and their red school spray jacket.
Buses will be departing at 8:55am sharp so please ensure your child arrives at school on time on Monday. (It they are late they may miss out on the Athletics Day).
While in the past we have always celebrated this day with a large number of parent helpers and spectators, our current COVID restrictions prevent this from happening this year. (We did look at postponing the event, but the results are needed sooner to select the students to represent St Clare's at the District Athletics event).
The Foundation to Year 2 students will have their Athletics Carnival in Term 4 … so watch this space.
ST CLARE’S FEAST DAY
St Clare’s Feast Day is Wednesday 11 August and we will be celebrating and praying together beginning at 1:00pm with our School Liturgy. There will be science-based cross-age activities in the afternoon and a special treat from the P&F for each child.
First Communion
Congratulations to the children who will be receiving First Holy Communion this weekend. This group has waited a long time for this special occasion – some since last year. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Each year since 1945 the Children’s Book Council Australia CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.
This year book week is celebrated from the 21—27 August 2021. As part of ‘Book Week’ at St Clare’s a book week parade will be held on Monday 23 August. (Students are invited to dress up as a favourite book character or a costume to match this year’s theme ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’.
A variety of special activities will be enjoyed by our students in their learning groups during Book Week to celebrate the love of books!

Fun-sized Fundraiser! Maeghan, age 6, was our highest fundraiser for Bake A Wish raising a whopping $3,142! Inspired to get involved by a sick friend in the hospital, and a cousin who is a wish recipient, she smashed her fundraising goals.
Baking since she was 3 years old, she is no stranger to the kitchen and the cooking was all her own! Mum, Ziska, stands there and makes sure she doesn't hurt herself with the oven, but from measuring out ingredients to cracking eggs and mixing, it's all her. When she grows up she wants to be a teacher and open a cake shop!
Well done Maeghan, we are very proud to have you as a fundraiser for wishes!
A huge thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and got involved in Bake A Wish this year. We loved seeing everyone's amazing baking creations! Your support brings joy and positivity to critically ill kids.

Here is the link for the St Clare's Parent Access Portal (PAM)
You username is the email address that you have registered with the school. The first time you log in we ask that you use the forgotten password feature to set your own password.
ALL parents must access PAM to receive up to date information and grant necessary permissions. Students will miss out on events if permission is not granted.
MEDICAL INFORMATION - When you update your child's medical information in PAM - PLEASE ensure this is accurate. The school must have current up to date asthma, allergy, anaphylaxis or medical plans for those students identified with these conditions and any other medical conditions such as diabetes or epilepsy. This is to ensure we have relevant information to assist your child with the management of these medical conditions.
SKOOLBAG is no longer being used. To report student absence please use PAM, email absent@stclaresofficer.catholic.edu.au or call 5940 6777
Please ensure the school has your current contact details - this includes address, email, work numbers etc. To update details please email admin@stclaresofficer.catholic.edu.au or call 5940 6777. Through PAM parents are also able to update your child's medical details.
