Dear Parents and Carers
This week we farewell another of our teachers who is having a baby, Mrs Allyssa O'Hara. Unfortuantely due to the current situation we have all been unable to see Mrs O'Hara and farewell her onsite. We will be ready to welcome her and the baby once they can come to visit.
We wish Allyssa and Brendan all the best as they begin the joys of parenthood. We welcome Mrs Hayleigh Dunn who will be teaching year 1 AO for the remainder of the year.
COVID update - at this point we await further information from the Government around the end date of the current Lockdown and when students may return to school. As soon as we have further information we will communicate this with all families.
Many in our school community continue to face financial impacts as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are committed to supporting families experiencing financial challenges through our School Fee Concession programs, and encourage any parent/carer/guardian experiencing difficulties to contact us regarding fee assistance.
Please contact the school via finance@stclaresofficer.catholic.edu.au or 03 5940 6777 to explore confidential financial support arrangements or to obtain further information.
This week at St Clare's we celebrated Book Week a little differently. Students and teachers at home dressed up for their daily Google Meet, sharing their favourite story and favourite book character. Students tuned in to listen to their teachers read some of this year's Shortlisted books around the theme of 'Old Words, New Worlds, Other Worlds'.
Book Week Fun
I wish I was back at school
Remote learning is really tough,
There’s always a lot of stuff.
It is always so confusing,
I sometimes think I’m losing.
Mum changed her name to Miss Pretty,
I felt like I was a kiddie.
Remote learning isn’t that surly,
You sometimes finish early.
I wish I was back at school,
Seeing my friends is so cool.

MY LOCKDOWN POEM
I have been at school, it is very cool.
I have been playing in the sun, it is fun.
I put my bag in a locker, and I play soccer.
I like to run, it is so fun. I can teach, and reach.
I learn and turn.
I like books and I cook.

Corona Virus
We went outside
for a long walk
and on the way
we had a talk
We would sit in bed
and read a huge book
Then we'd go to the kitchen
and start to cook

My best pal
Your fur is as dark as the Midnight skies.
Happy is what I see when I look into your eyes.
Your always give us a lick while we teach you a trick.
You don’t run as fast as you used to because you are getting older.
My favourite time together is when we rest.
But to me you will always be the best

Home-schooling by Alexis
We had to go home from school, but I thought it was very uncool.
All the pre-schools and schools closed down and we started home-school.
We made food and stayed behind our screens, there were more and more cases that we all couldn’t see.
We were playing with our friends on our Ipads or computers, until we went to bed and said “Goodnight!” sooner.
Fun things about lock down by Ebony!
We started going into lockdown, it wasn’t very fun,
we wanted it to be done,
but we figured out how to have fun.
We started playing boardgames, cards too.
We played basketball, my basketball is blue.
Soccer boy is in a pandemic
so he can’t play soccer in this epidemic.
He had to sit on a seat and do Google Meets.
He had to stay home so he couldn’t roam.

Covid-19 came along, we didn't know what
was going on! We thought it was cool but we
couldn't go to school and that felt cruel.
Classrooms rule the school and we need to
go back to school. Cool we must stay or Covid
will rule the day. We need to go back to play
but don't worry help is on the way!
May your days in lockdown not feel grey but,
do your work and make the most of it and go
outside to play.
May the days be few until we are all back at
school. We miss our teachers, we miss our
friends but the most of all we miss our learning space!
So never give up,
God will always be hear to help us.

Learning From Home
By Felicity
In 2020 we had to learn from our big or tiny homes,
It was a little hard at first but I was not alone.
We had to pack a lot of writing tools,
So we could work at home instead of at our schools.
When we were bored we could do some baking,
Cakes, scones and cookies were in the making.
There was never a lot of noise,
At my home there were more girls than boys.
I hate the Covid-19 Pandemic.
I hate the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s ruined all the fun, all I do these days is sit around or go outside and run.
All the parties have been cancelled. No friends and party cake. No school for the students, instead we learn to bake.
Although at times this virus gets us down, those feelings we can shake, for we are resillient, brave and strong, whilst hoping lockdown doesn’t last too long.

Me and the pandemic.
By Luka
This pandemic has changed my life in so many different ways.
I used to be able to go to school every single day.
All of a sudden COVID came and took all that away.
Now I spend a lot of time at home feeling sad.
For now at home is where we have to stay.
But I look forward to the time again to get together and play.
So for now we have to cancel all the plans that we have been making.
While we sit at home doing all our home schooling.
And mum looks forward to being in the kitchen doing all our baking.
Lockdown
School shut down a few weeks ago,
I thought it would be cool.
But now I am stuck in side and can't go to the pool.
My Mum is trying to be my teacher, but I think being a Mum is her best feature.
We've got so good at Google Meets and Zoom.
Hopefully we can hug our family soon.
I would really like to see my friends.
I can't wait till lockdown ends.

Theme: World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation
On August 6 2015, Pope Francis declared September 1 World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. According to Pope Francis, “The annual World Day of prayer for the Care of Creation offers to individual believers and to the community a precious opportunity to renew our personal participation in this vocation as custodians of creation, raising to God our thanks for the marvellous works that He has entrusted to our care, invoking his help for the protection of creation and his mercy for the sins committed against the world in which we live.”
World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation in 2021 also falls at the beginning of the Season of Creation, which runs until 4 October, the feast of St Francis of Assisi. This is an ecumenical season dedicated to prayer for the protection of creation and the promotion of sustainable lifestyles.
Caring for Creation
Most High, good Lord,
You revealed to St. Francis
that You are Father of all creation and
that all creatures are related as brothers and sisters.
Praised be You, my Lord,
with all Your creatures,
especially Sir Brother Sun who is the day,
and through whom You give us light.
Praised be You, my Lord,
through Sister Moon and the stars,
Brother Wind,
Sister Water
and Brother Fire.
And praised be You, my Lord,
through our Sister Mother Earth,
who sustains and governs us,
and produces varied fruit
with coloured flowers and herbs.
Grant us, Lord,
the grace to see Your beauty and likeness
in created things
that we may follow St. Francis
in showing care for creation.
Amen.
