Cyber Safety
Dear Parents and Guardians
Last week, Susan McLean spoke with the Years 3-6 students about cyber safety. She also spoke with staff and parents and presented some of her latest findings around Cyber Safety.
As a former police woman and current world expert, Susan has a wealth of experience and some great insights.
Some of her key pieces of advice are:
- GET Get devices out of bedrooms and bathrooms
- RULES Have a family online contract and rules for use – for school and for socialising
- KNOW Know your child’s passwords /passcodes
- TALK Talk early – talk often
- FILTERING Use a filter or limit inappropriate content
- SCREEN TIME Look at what they are doing online! Not all screen time is bad and they will be online more
- BE THERE Learn about the sites and apps they use – be there with them
- USE Use all security settings and parental controls
- FRIEND Only add people that your knows IRL
- LOCATION Know where your child is online just as IRL
Susan also spoke of Tik Tok, Snapchat and Discord and how these platforms are not appropriate for children under the age of thirteen.
NEW PLAYGROUND
A week in - and the new playground is well-received by our students. With the input of student voice, there will be opportunities soon for other year levels to play on the larger field at times. After discussions with students, it was decided that the priority was given to Year 5&6 level initially as it was recognised by students that ‘they had waited the longest’ and that safety was the core concern, therefore ‘everyone cannot play on the same areas at the same time’.
Over the holiday break, the outdoor learning space and garden area will be completed and works will begin on the Indigeneous Garden.
It will make for a beautiful space where our students can relax, play and be creative in.
This means that all staff, contractors and volunteers (including parent helpers) must meet the booster vaccination requirements or have a valid exemption to continue to attend on-site for the purposes of working from Friday 25 March 2022. Parent Helpers/Volunteers will be required pr provide proof of vaccination (including booster) when they sign in at the school office.

PAM - Parent Access Module
Here is the link for the St Clare's Parent Access Portal (PAM)
You username is the email address that you have registered with the school. The first time you log in we ask that you use the forgotten password feature to set your own password.
