Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers
I hope you and your families enjoyed a wonderful break over the school holidays.
The Victorian Government has announced some important changes to COVIDSafe measures for schools that will apply from the start of Term 2, 2022.
Face masks
Face masks, while recommended, are no longer required in any school setting. This means students in Grades 3 to 6, staff and visitors in primary schools are no longer required to wear face masks. Any student or staff member who wishes to wear a mask may do so, including those who are medically at-risk.
Rapid Antigen Testing Screening Program
Free Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kits will continue to be available for all staff and students in Victorian schools for the first four weeks of Term 2, 2022. Participation in the surveillance program will continue to be voluntary but strongly encouraged for all primary and secondary students and staff twice-weekly on school days.
Students and staff who have recovered from COVID-19 do not need to participate in the RAT surveillance program for 12 weeks after their isolation period has ended. This was previously 8 weeks.
Household or Household-Like Contacts
Household and household-like contacts are no longer required to quarantine but are required to undertake the following additional safety measures in the seven days that would have been their quarantine period:
- notify the school if returning during their seven-day period;
- undertake daily rapid antigen testing five times within the seven days;
- wear a face mask indoors (if aged eight (8) and above) unless a lawful exemption applies;
- are not permitted to visit hospitals or care facilities unless an exemption applies.
Household and household-like contacts are recommended to avoid interaction with people at higher risk of severe disease from COVID-19.
If symptomatic, staff and students must stay/return home, take a rapid antigen test, or get a PCR test if a rapid antigen testing kit unavailable.
If a staff member, student, parent, guardian or carer cannot comply with the additional safety measures outlined above at any time, they must:
- quarantine immediately for the remainder of their seven-day household contact period
- get tested on Day one (1) (or as soon as possible) and on Day six (6) of their household contact period
- not attend school until a negative Day six (6) test result is received.
Vaccination requirements for visitors to schools
Parents, guardians, carers and other adult visitors are no longer required to show evidence of two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine if not performing work or volunteering at the school.
Parents can continue to accompany their child to the Learning Space in the mornings and are welcome to listen to their child read prior to the school day beginning at 8.50am.
In the afternoon parents are welcome to meet their child at the Learning Spcae door. Please be mindful that teachers will be taking children to other pick up areas of the school. Therefore if you wish to meet with your child's teacher we encourage you to arrange a mutually convenient time.
I encourage all parents, guardians and carers to review the attached information in relation to the COVIDSafe measures that will be implemented across all schools in the Diocese of Sale from the commencement of Term 2, 2022 to ensure that we protect our school communities and minimise disruption to face-to-face student learning.
As we approach winter and flu season, the vaccination of children aged five (5) to 11 and booster shots for students 16+ remains the best way to ensure protection for students and staff.
If you have any concerns about getting your child vaccinated, please contact your GP or another health professional who can answer your questions.
Thank you for your ongoing support in keeping our school safe.

Swimming Reminders
- Students are to wear their sports uniform with their bathers underneath.
- If girls have one piece bathers can they only wear them up to the waist, not over their shoulders, so going to the toilet prior to swimming is not an issue.
- Students need to bring a pair of thongs/sandals. They will change into these before leaving school. Shoes and socks will remain on their chairs at school. This makes changing at the pool easier and helps prevent lost socks and shoes at the pool.
- Students also need to bring in a separate NAMED bag (not their school bag) a towel, goggles, swim cap, ear plugs if needed, a plastic bag for their wet bathers and underwear.
- We suggest students are also given an extra piece of fruit they can eat on return to school. Often after swimming children are hungry, so they will have a second fruit time once they return to school.
- Please ensure all your child’s belongings are labelled clearly, especially their school uniform.
- Parents are welcome to come and watch as a spectator but must remain in the separate viewing area. Please respect the swimming teachers as you would your child’s class teacher. Splash’s request that conversation and queries be directed to the school teacher rather than the swimming teacher to ensure there is no disruption to class.
- Only those parents who are the authorised helpers for that day will be able to enter the change rooms.
- Please respect the Centre’s and School’s policy of no photography, this includes cameras on mobile phones.
- We will be allocated a boys and girls change room. All children are to be changed in these change rooms.
Reminders for Authorised Parent Helpers
- Thank you for volunteering to help with our swimming program. Please arrive at the pool 10 minutes prior to your child’s swimming lesson. All authorised parents are to meet us at the pool. Please wait in the foyer area where a school staff member will meet and sign you in. If you are unsure of the days you are attending please check with the office.
- After you have assisted your child you will need to assist other children and this is greatly appreciated.
- Only Authorised Parent Helpers will be allowed to enter the change rooms.
Our Year 5 students are enjoying a wonderful experience on camp having visited the Arts Centre and the shrine yesterday.
Last night they are having a great time on the inflatables at MSAC.
Don’t forget the fun run Monday 9th May 2022. Just a quick reminder to get your child’s profile set up over the holidays and get your fundraising hats on.
How Does My Child Fundraise?
Firstly, go to schoolfunrun.com.au and create a student profile page. Everything to do with your fundraising revolves around this page.
Students who raise just $10 will be able to choose a prize! The more they raise, the better their reward – don’t forget to check these out in the sponsorship form! The great thing about online fundraising is that you can share the link to your child’s profile with friends and family via email, SMS and Social Media.
Online Fundraising
The safest way to raise money is through online fundraising, it’s safer and easier than doorknocking and you don’t have to worry about handling money. To start fundraising online, go to your student profile page at schoolfundraising.com.au and share your online fundraising link. Profiles are safe and can only be viewed by the people you choose to share the link with.
If you have any questions, then please contact Mel Harding from the P&F or alternatively the School Fun-Run team on 1800 FUN RUN (386 786) and they will gladly assist!
Once again, thank you all for your continued support
