Dear Parents and Carers
Farewell Mrs J
It’s with a sadness in our hearts that we say farewell to our beloved Mrs J – also known as Mrs Andrea Jayawardena. Andrea has been at St Clare’s School for a number of years now and prior to this, she worked at the ELC next door.
Andrea has accepted the role of Parish Secretary at St Patrick’s Parish – so we will still get to see her often.
Andrea’s work in Breakfast Club and in the various areas (particularly Foundation) will be deeply missed. We shall always remember her kindness, her compassion, her deep faith and her gentle words.
Enjoy your new venture Mrs J – you will be missed at St Clare’s.
(There will be a chance to farewell Andrea at Friday’s assembly)
Last Day of Term 3
Friday 24 June is the last day of Term 2. Students will be dismissed at normal time of 3.10pm
This will also be Pizza and PJ day - so we look forward to seeing everyon in their PJ's but please ensure students have approriate footwear for outside play and PE classes for those who have PE on Friday.
Feast of the Sacred Heart June 24
This Friday is the Feast of the Sacred Heart. On a Friday 19 days after Pentecost, Catholics celebrate The most Sacred Heart of Jesus. On this day we recall Christ's love for his people and Catholics are called to live a life centred on the heart (love) of God.
As we approach the midst of Winter we encourage all families to donate non-perishable food to St Vincent de Paul. Students can bring these donations to school and we deliver all donations to St Vincent de Paul before the holidays. This will then be distributed to families who need support this Winter. Please donate up to Wednesday 22nd June.
If every family brought in one item per student we would have 555 items to donate. Suggested items include:
- Tins of food (soups, baked beans, tuna)
- Pasta
- Cereals
- Milo/Tea/Coffee
- Sanitary supplies

A SPECIAL REPORT: Wellbeing - Checklist for Primary
Whilst most children are resilient and seem to be demonstrating a remarkable capacity to manage during this challenging time, others are not faring as well. Some are experiencing a variety of emotions ranging from fear to anxiety, all of which are considered normal or natural responses to this current situation.
However despite this, it is still important for adult carers to remain vigilant for any signs of unusual distress or behaviour, even though your child may not have any prior history of a mental health disorder.
It was estimated that one in seven Australasian children experienced a mental health issue before the Coronavirus pandemic, therefore early intervention, diagnosis and treatment is even more important now. In the current climate, one useful thing you can do is help your child focus on the things that they can control - such as their learning, diet, exercise and sleep.
In this Special Report, adult carers will be provided with a checklist that can be used a guide in determining if there is any cause for concern.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this Special Report, and as always, we welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.
