Enrolments for 2023
We have begun our planning for 2023. If you know of anyone or yourself have a child you need to enrol for 2023 we ask you to do so as soon as possible. Enrolment packs are available from the school office and located on our website. On Thursday 25th August, 48 of our Year 3-6 students went to the Casey Fields Athletics complex to compete at the Officer District Athletics. All students who attended the event at to be congratulated for the way they represented St. Clare’s and their sportsmanship on the day.
Although the weather was challenging we were lucky enough to through most events. Unfortunately, high jump had to be cancelled due to safety concerns. The St. Clare’s team was very vocal, cheering and supporting everyone to do their best. From our amazing efforts, we placed 5th overall against 10 schools. This is the best results for St. Clare’s at this level.
Many of our students received personal best performances on the day and many came away with a ribbon. Congratulations to the following students who have qualified to represent St. Clare’s at the Divisional Athletics Okitha, Beth, Janaya, Joshua, Brodie, Riley and Tanveer. We wish them all the best for the next level of competition.
National Child Protection and Child Safety Week
National Child Protection and Child Safety Week (4-10 September) is an annual event starting on the first Sunday of September. This year’s theme ‘Every child, in every community, needs a fair go’ aims to spread the message that to treat all of Australia’s children fairly, we need to make sure every family and community has what kids need to grow up safe and supported.
Throughout the course of the coming week our learning groups will focus on the theme of Child Safety Week, exploring the different ways that we can grow up feeling safe and supported and the people in our home, school and community who can assist us in this goal.
A reminder to families also to view and read the weekly links in the newsletter from SchoolTV which focus on areas that we as a community can support the theme of the week that ‘Every Child, in every community, needs a fair go’.
Edition 6 Brochure has gone home with students this week. Orders are to be placed by Friday 2 September

In this edition of SchoolTV - SLEEP
Students today have extremely busy schedules, with ever increasing responsibilities at school and at home. Many kids, especially adolescents, are going to bed later and later and are at risk of sleep deprivation. This affects three areas of a child’s development: psychological, physiological and psychosocial. All three are essential to a child's growth, learning ability and overall wellbeing. Sleep is vital to a child’s overall development and is as important as diet and exercise.
Sleep also strengthens a child’s immune systems and supports their ability to function properly on a daily basis. Children who do not get enough sleep show increased levels of aggressive behaviour, are less attentive and are much less active. Trying to catch up on sleep on weekends is not the answer and can still lead to severe sleep deprivation.
In this edition of SchoolTV, parents will learn about the importance of sleep and how sleep deprivation can have adverse effects on a child’s health and wellbeing.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this edition of SchoolTV and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school counsellor for further information or seek medical or professional help.

Message from the School Crossing Supervisors
This fortnight we are targeting the rules involving “NO STOPPING” areas, as per the VicRoads website.
No stopping signs
If there is a 'no stopping' sign, you are not allowed to stop or park your car in, or partly in, that area for any reason. Dropping off or picking up passengers or goods in a ‘no stopping’ area is not permitted. The designated area is anywhere between, or alongside, the arrows. If there are times on the signs, or wording stating “When Flags Displayed”, then it only applies during those times.
