Dear Parents and Guardians
It was an early start to school this week for some students, with our choir leaving school at 6am on Monday to head into the National Catholic Education Conference at the Exhibition Centre. They performed magnificently - with many reports commending their performance received. Thank you to the families who had an early start to ensure the students were at school on time.
Our Farm Excursion – By Foundation HR
Last Wednesday, the Foundation students and teachers went on an excursion to Chesterfield Farm. Brooklyn’s mum and Jayden’s mum also went on the excursion too!
First, we travelled by bus. Simar sat next to Narvir and Jujhar sat next to Maddison. While we were on the bus we played I Spy.
Next, we excitedly got off the bus and met our farmer. We explored the farm and visited the animal nursery. We patted cute bunnies, lambs and a calf. Aami the sheep tried to escape but the farmer put her back in her pen.
Then, Foundation HR went on a fun tractor ride. We saw kangaroos, deer, alpacas and pigs.
After that, we watched a sheep dog show. Scout was amazing! He quickly rounded up the sheep and jumped on top of them!
Finally, we wandered around and fed the goats, camels, emus and geese. The sneaky goats stole Nava’s, Emma’s, Sharlene’s, Jordan’s and Japman’s bags of food! Teresa, Avery and Eden kindly shared their bags.
At the end of the day we hopped back on the bus and returned to St Clare’s. Everyone had muddy boots but Patrick’s were the muddiest! We all had a fantastic day but we were very exhausted!
Dear families
We would like to introduce our new service coordinator Chelsea. Chelsea is looking forward to meeting everyone who will attend oshc in the coming weeks and is making some great changes in the program. Some fun facts about Chelsea are……… she loves horses and also works with racehorses alongside doing oshc, she loves dogs but especially dalmatians, she is a bit of a social butterfly and loves seeing her friends. Chelsea is also English and moved over to Australia when she was 13 and has been working in childcare for just over 7 years.
National Child Protection and Child Safety Week
Just a reminder to families that this week is National Child Protection and Child Safety Week (4-10 September) which is an annual event starting on the first Sunday of September. This year’s theme ‘Every child, in every community, needs a fair go’ aims to spread the message that to treat all of Australia’s children fairly, we need to make sure every family and community has what kids need to grow up safe and supported.
Throughout the course of this week our learning groups are focusing on the theme of Child Safety Week, exploring the different ways that we can grow up feeling safe and supported and the people in our home, school and community who can assist us in this goal.
A reminder to families also to view and read the weekly links in the newsletter from SchoolTV which focus on areas that we as a community can support the theme of the week that ‘Every Child, in every community, needs a fair go’.
National eSmart Week
The work of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation is also highlighted this week with National eSmart Week. The key purpose of the week is to highlight the various ways we can help children and young people to understand their rights and responsibilities online and empower them to be positive digital citizens.
It also provides an opportunity to support them in feeling a sense of pride in the way that they interact and engage in the digital world, equipping them to put their best foot forward whenever they engage, learn and play online.
For further information on National eSmart week and the work of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation you can visit the website at esmart.org.au
