Dear Parents and Carers
IMPORTANT REMINDER:
No school on Friday 28 October and Monday 31 October
WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY – Friday 31 October
This is a chance to recognise and celebrate the teachers who are making, or have made, an impact in our lives. Whether you're a current student, have children in school, or have been out of school for many years, World Teachers’ Day is a chance to say, ‘thank you’.
Sunsmart
As we are now in warmer weather and UV ratings are high ALL students are required to wear a hat every day for both first and second break. Students are also required to wear the hats home as UV ratings are still high at 3.10pm upon dismissal.
This means that students will need to establish a routine where the hat is placed in the school bag upon returning home. They will then take the hat out of their bag each morning when arriving at school and place it with their lunch box and water bottle so they are ready for eating time and the first break.
Please support students to place their hats in their bags each afternoon when arriving home.
If students do not have a hat to wear they will be asked to play under cover.
Some further reminders for us all:
- Supervision of students at school begins at 8:30am. Parent are asked NOT to allow students to arrive at school before this time unless enrolled in the Before School Care Program. (This includes cyclists, walkers and those who are driven to school).
- On Monday morning we will be having a Practice Fire Drill. You may hear the sirens that morning – even from a distance. This is a good opportunity to have a discussion with your child about safety – especially if they are likely to be anxious.
- A blue form went home today with each child indicating your intentions for next year. This is a crucial part of our planning and staffing for 2023 and a prompt response is always appreciated.
The New Award for our Staff:
As part of the new award, staff will be granted Time in Lieu for activities that happen outside of the usual school day including camps. This means that when a camp occurs, students will remain at home the following day.
This has prompted a review of all of our camps and I am keen to have your opinion also. A survey will be sent to you soon for your feedback. Many thanks
Please continue to pray for some of our Year 3 students who will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation this week.
THE SACRAMENT OF FIRST RECONCILIATION
- Wednesday 26th October at 7:00 pm

‘Festival of Lights’
Late notice but did you know the celebration of Diwali is next Monday?
Many of your students may celebrate this festival as it lasts 5 days and is a major religious festival:
Diwali, also spelled Divali, is one of the major religious festivals in Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism.
The name is derived from the Sanskrit term dipavali, meaning “row of lights.”
The festival generally symbolizes the victory of light over darkness.

In this edition of SchoolTV - SCHOOL TRANSITIONS
Whether it is starting school for the first time, moving up to a higher grade or embarking on a journey through secondary school, there is no doubt that any school transition is a very exciting time for children and parents. It means your children are growing up!
However, transitioning is an ongoing process. It can continue long after students have entered their new environment and may encounter difficulties at a number of different stages. These stressors may appear as anxiety and frustration and result in negative or disruptive behaviours. Such behaviours can become problematic making the transitioning process even more difficult for children and parents.
In this edition of SchoolTV, parents will learn practical strategies to assist your child during the transition process and reduce stress and anxiety levels.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this edition of SchoolTV and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school counsellor for further information or seek medical or professional help.
