Advent
This weekend sees the beginning of Advent in the Catholic church. Advent occurs over four Sundays before Christmas. Advent is a time of preparation – Catholics prepare for the feast of Christmas, in which the First Coming of the Son of God (Jesus) to humanity is remembered. Catholics also take the time to reflect how they invite Christ into their lives. Thirdly, Catholics are reminded to look forward to Christ’s Second Coming at the end of time.
Prayer table cloths will change colour - purple cloths will be used. The colour purple symbolises penance, preparation and sacrifice.

Our Market held last Friday was a huge success. It was fantastic to see so many families coming together again after such a long time. We have had loads of kids tell us they had fun over the last few days, it’s just wonderful to see the excitement when they talk about it.
Overall we’ve made just over $8000 on the night which will go towards our project of updating the technology for the school.
These types of events don’t just happen overnight and it takes a lot of people giving very generously to make it happen, so from the whole P&F committee we want to say THANK YOU!

A special thank you to Blair Archer, our wonderful grounds keeper for moving things and measuring things all week. Finally, to the amazing P&F Crew, for keeping those wheels turning - Mel Harding, Ally Bourke, Laura Polan, Roxanne Szwaja, Chris Brooks and Tiffany Thomas. You have all put in numerous hours including the early starts and late night zoom meetings to make this market a reality.
Thank you everyone! Here’s to 2023 being even better!
In this edition of SchoolTV - RAISING BOYS
Many parents will attest to the fact that most boys are active, loud, rambunctious and prone to rough play, but this should not affect how a parent acts towards their son. Be careful not to pigeon-hole your son into sex-specific behaviours or gender roles. The male brain is distinctly different in its development. A boy’s physical maturity is often at odds with his mental and brain development.
Societal beliefs about how to raise boys can sometimes influence their adult carers. Although we are not determined by our biology, it is a factor. It is important to support boys in their natural tendencies and nurture their strengths and abilities. Teach them the skills they need for their future and to develop a healthy identity. It is important for boys to have a role model they can connect with and acknowledge who they are. One of the most important determinants for a boy’s development is how secure they feel growing up.
In this edition of SchoolTV, adult carers will gain a better understanding into some of the more complex issues relating to raising boys.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this edition of SchoolTV and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school counsellor for further information or seek medical or professional help.
